Club evening according program
Thursday 19:00 to 23:00

The section Chess Club Novartis has about 40 members. Most of them are members of the SSB (Swiss Chess Federation). The Chess Club Novartis is a section of the Swiss Chess Federation (SSB) and the Nordwest Swiss Chess Federtion (NSV).

We play Thursdays in the St. Johann Sports Center. The club evening usually starts at 19:00 according to a schedule: internal or external events, friendship matches and free game evenings. The program is updated every 6 months and communicated in a newsletter to the members of the Chess section. It is also published on this webpage. Depending on the needs of the players, it is also possible to schedule matches earlier.

Internal events:
We offer a rich program of club events, Novartis Chess championships, cup, blitz and rapid chess tournaments and also advanced training and simultaneous tournaments.
You find all the information in our term program. Interested players have always the possibility to participate in out competitions. Inquiries regarding this can be addressed to the section leader.

External events:
The Chess Club Novartis participates with several teams in the Swiss Team Championship and the Northwest Swiss Team Championships. If you like to play in the league, we are always interested to integrate new players in our teams.

Friendship games:
As a long standing tradition we meet befriended chess clubs for friendship matches: Chess Club UBS Zürich (already since 60 years), Chess Club Huningue and Chess Club Therwil alternately at our place or at theirs. These events are very popular. The fun of playing chess and the sociability have a higher priority than the success in sport.

Chess for retired people:
Our retired members play Monday afternoons in the Café „Jardin“, Adullam Spital, Mittlere Strasse 15, Basel (Parking: City Parking; Tram: Nr. 3; Stops Pilgerstrasse and Spalentor; Bus: Nr. 30 and 33; Stop Bernoullianum)
